GLENWOOD SPRINGS – The Junior Gents rugby team took on the Grand Junction Griffins at Glenwood Park in Glenwood Springs last weekend with the Junior Gents winning, 49-7.
“The Junior Gents were untouchable in the first 15 minutes with snappy passing and deft footwork from standout Kody Fox in the center,” coach Gary Williams said. The local high school-age rugby team worked to a 22-7 haltime lead.
Williams said the Junior Gents maintained discipline and ran the ball well. They scored tries by Felipe Martinez and his brother Fabian.
Matt Williams scored from 30 yards out, and Fox picked up a couple of tries with his speed.
“Good discipline in a hard encounter was the mainstay of the home team,” Williams said.
The undefeated Junior Gents will host the Warriors from Denver at noon Saturday at Roaring Fork High School in Carbondale.
