Historic Owl Creek Chase back Sunday

The Owl Creek Chase is back.

The historic Snowmass-to-Aspen cross country race is back for the 2016 edition on Sunday.

This year, the main race will be a 21-kilometer classic race with prize money.



A 21K skate race also will be held Sunday, with no prize money.

The classic race will start at the Snowmass Nordic Center at 9 a.m. Sunday. It will follow Owl Creek down to Aspen with a finish at the Aspen Cross Country Center (Aspen Golf Course).




The skate race will start at 9:30 a.m. at the Snowmass Nordic Center.

Bib pickup will start at 7 a.m. Sunday at the Snowmass Nordic Center.

Parking is available on site at the finish. Participants should park at the Aspen Cross Country Center and take a shuttle to the start. The Owl Creek Chase was first staged in 1985.
