Heavy snow delays Colorado Freeride Championships at Snowmass
Aspen, CO Colorado
SNOWMASS – Heavy snow forced organizers to postpone Friday’s qualifying for the Colorado Freeride Championships until Saturday.
The event will either be held on Hanging Valley Headwall or Burnside Cliffs based on conditions and visibility, according to Meredith McKee, PR manager for Aspen Skiing Company. If all goes well with the weather Saturday, McKee added, then championships would take place on Sunday, also with the possibility of those taking place in either venue based on weather.
Snowmass reported 7 inches of snow so far in this storm, but clouds are low-hanging and visibility is very limited above 9,500 feet.
