Kyra Chenoweth scored 25 points and teammate Allie Dovey scored 21 points as the Grand Valley High School girls basketball team rolled past Aspen 63-13.

The Cardinals, who improved to 10-6 overall and 7-4 in the Western Slope League, bolted to an 18-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

By halftime the lead was 35-2 with Chenoweth scoring 20 first-half points.

Bailey Rowe added 10 to give the Cardinals three players in double figures.

Megan Hanson put the Skiers on the scoreboard with a short jumper early in the second quarter.

Christy Buchholz scored five points — all in the third quarter — to lead Aspen.

Jess Coxon added four points and eight rebounds in the Skiers’ loss.

Aspen moved to 1-15 overall, 1-10 in the Western Slope League.

The Aspen girls will play the featured game Saturday against Gunnison. The AHS girls will play at 4 p.m.

The boys varsity game Saturday will start at 2:30 p.m.
