The Olathe High School girls basketball team lived up to its billing Saturday.

The visiting Pirates blitzed the Aspen girls early and rolled to a 64-32 victory over the Skiers in a Western Slope League game at the AHS gymnasium.

The Pirates, just outside the top 10 in this week’s Class 3A state rankings, pushed the early lead to 14-2 late in the first quarter.

Aspen closed the gap on a 3-pointer from Julia Boronski at the buzzer.

Senior Taylor Brown worked the inside for Olathe in the second quarter, scoring six of her game-high 19 points.

By halftime, the Pirates led 28-11.

Claire O’Sullivan scored two baskets in the third quarter to close the margin.

Olathe pulled away with 19 points in the fourth quarter.

Shelby Anderson scored 16 to go with Brown’s 19 for the Pirates.

Kacy Henwood added nine points and eight assists for Olathe (11-4 overall, 8-2 in league play).

Miranda Pacheco added eight points.

Boronski led the Skiers with seven points. Marissa Buchholz added five, including a 3-pointer. Cliara Sanchez added four points.

The Skiers moved to 1-13 overall, 0-9 in the Western Slope League.

The Skiers will travel for their next three games.
