SNOWMASS ” Frenchman Julien Lopez bested Aspen skier Jason Brown during Sunday’s men’s ski finals at the Colorado Freeride Championships at Snowmass.

On the women’s side, Aspen native Emily Teague topped the field in a competition that challenges skiers and snowboarders to negotiate serious cliff drops in the Burnside Cliffs at Snowmass.

For the snowboarders, Riley Gessele and Onna Konicek took top honors.

The competition began Friday under snowy, blustery skies that curtailed qualifying for the day. The championships continued under more favorable conditions Saturday and Sunday. Helly Hansen was the title sponsor for the event.
