Bergdahl, Crawford crowned King of the Mountain

Aspen’s Matt Bergdahl and partner Rob Crawford of Eagle took first place in the men’s masters division at the King of the Mountain Open volleyball tournament in Vail Friday.Bergdahl and Crawford bested Renney Werner of Denver and Dan Hamm of Evergreen in the division finals, 15-11. Bergdahl is the girls volleyball coach at Aspen High School.The masters division, for players who are 35 and older, featured 16 teams.The King of the Mountain Open, now in its 32nd year, is the oldest volleyball tournament in the state – predating Aspen’s MotherLode Volleyball Classic by two months, according to Leon Fell, who produces both events.
