Basketball: Aspen boys win at Olathe

The Aspen High School boys basketball team hit the road for a 63-51 win at Olathe on Friday night.

Jack Rosenthal scored 17 points to lead the Skiers.

Tristan Niskanen added 16 as the AHS boys improved to 4-3 overall and 1-1 in the Western Slope League.

Zack George scored 11 for the Skiers. AJ Detrick added eight, and Will Hazen scored six.

“Defensively, we weren’t too bad,” Aspen head coach Rolf Schildman said. “But then, we would have some mental lapses. But we pulled it out.”

He said the Skiers struggled to execute on offense at times.

Olathe moved to 0-8, 0-3 in conference with the Friday night loss.

“We’ve got Grand Valley coming in (Saturday). We’ll have our hands full with them,” Schildman said. “We’re looking forward to the opportunity to play a good team.”

In the girls game Friday night, Olathe topped Aspen 59-30.

Mckenna Woodrow led Aspen (1-6) with seven points.

Simone Lamont and Marissa Buchholz added five points each.
