Basalt Middle School wrestlers win PEG title
Staff report
The Basalt Middle School wrestlers are the champions of the PEG League for the second consecutive year.
The junior Longhorns, coached by Ryan Bradley and Thaddeus Eshelman, consist of 34 seventh- and eighth-grade students.
They topped Glenwood Springs, New Castle, Rifle and Grand Valley to claim the championship.
“The win was a true team effort with many students earning points for the team,” said Bradley, who also resurrected the wrestling program at Basalt High School.
PEG champions for Basalt included eighth-graders Zach Pagan and Julius Vazquez along with seventh-grader Ernie Lopez.
