Basalt boys basketball season comes to an end with loss at Grand Valley

The Basalt High School boys basketball team’s season came to an end Tuesday night with a 69-51 loss at Grand Valley.

Senior Raul Torres had 25 points to lead the Longhorns, while fellow senior Justin Henderson had 14.

Basalt, the No. 5 seed in the Class 3A Western Slope League district tournament, finishes its first season under coach C.P. Martinez with a 6-14 overall record.

Grand Valley, the No. 4 seed, improves to 17-3 overall and will face top seed Coal Ridge on Friday in the district semifinals.

The Aspen High School boys basketball team had its season come to an end on Monday in a 55-47 loss to Cedaredge inside the AHS gymnasium. The AHS boys ended the season 4-16 overall.

Also Monday, the Aspen High School girls basketball team saw its season come to an end with a 49-23 loss at Coal Ridge in their district pigtail game. AHS finished the season 1-19 overall.

The Basalt High School girls basketball team lost 44-36 on Monday at Olathe to finish the season 5-15 overall.
