Basalt boys basketball rolls at Gunnison

The Basalt High School boys basketball team enjoyed the road trip to Gunnison on Friday.

The Longhorns posted a 20-point victory to set up a huge showdown in Grand Valley on Saturday.

The Basalt boys won 61-41 at Gunnison to improve to 8-3 in the Western Slope League, 13-3 overall.



“We executed tonight,” Basalt head coach Danny Martinez said. “We played really well as a team. The defense and offense were composed.”

Mike Glen scored 23 for the Longhorns. Pedro Rivera added 10.




Kyle Roberts hit three 3-pointers for nine points for the Longhorns.

Pablo Rivera and Miles Levy scored four each.

All of the Longhorns played in the victory.

Gunnison moved to 5-6 in league, 7-9 overall.

The Basalt boys will play Grand Valley at 4 p.m. Saturday. The girls varsity game will start at 2 p.m. in Parachute.

In girls basketball, Gunnison topped Basalt 30-21 on Friday.
