Basalt and Aspen renew rivalry on hardcourt tonight

Twice a winter during the regular season, the basketball teams of Aspen High and Basalt High renew a longtime rivalry on the hardcourt.Tonight, at the BHS Big House, the Longhorns host the Skiers in their annual home-and-home series.The girls game pits Aspen, 0-3 in Class 3A Western Slope League play and 5-5 overall, against Basalt (2-1, 3-6). Tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.tonight.In the boys matchup, Basalt enters with a 2-1 record in league play, 4-5 mark overall. Aspen is 1-2 in league and 2-8 overall. The game starts at 7 p.m.On Saturday, the Aspen girls and boys host Gunnison with games starting at 2:30 and 4 p.m., respectively, at the AHS Skier Dome. The Basalt teams hit the road Saturday to face Cedaredge.
