Aspen’s Alex Ferreira wins final World Cup ski halfpipe event of season

Aspen native Alex Ferreira won Tuesday’s FIS World Cup ski halfpipe event in Tignes, France, the final World Cup stop of the season.

Ferreira’s best run came in his third and final, scoring 93.20. Avon’s Taylor Seaton was second with 89.40 and France’s Kevin Rolland third with 89.20. Crested Butte’s Aaron Blunck, who won X Games gold in Aspen in January, was ninth with 40.60.

This was Ferreira’s first major podium of the year. He sat out X Games because of injury. Basalt’s Torin Yater-Wallace missed Tuesday’s competition because of injury.

With the World Cup season concluded, Rolland was awarded the crystal globe for finishing atop the overall halfpipe standings. Blunck finished third overall to lead the Americans.

X Games Norway begins Wednesday with the men’s ski and snowboard slopestyle elimination rounds.
