Aspen, CO Colorado
KILLINGTON, Vt. ” Three Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club riders finished in the bottom half of the top 10 at Sunday’s Grand Prix slopestyle at Vermont’s Killington Resort.
Snowmass Village’s Jordan Karlinski ” a U. S. Snowboarding team rider ” had the best local result, finishing fifth just ahead of Carbondale’s Kyla Sobieralski, in sixth.
Basalt’s Molly Wilson was 10th.
Austria’s Claudia Fliri won the gold, while Americans Mary Sallah and Jamie Anderson ” the Winter X Games champion ” rounded out the podium.
In Sunday’s women’s halfpipe final, Aspen’s Tricia Byrnes finished 10th.
Karlinski’s result left her 10th in the Ticket to Ride World Rankings. The 10- month TTR World Snowboard Tour includes events all over the world and crowns respective men’s and women’s world champions at the end of the season.
The Killington Grand Prix was the last of the five-star events on the Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour. Next up is the Burton U.S. Open Snowboarding Championships in Stratton, Vt., a six-star event and the definitive stop for the men on the Tour. The men’s world champion will be crowned at the Open and a large portion of the $250,000 TTR prize purse will be handed out.
After the U.S. Open, the women will continued on to the six-star Roxy Chicken Jam in Mammoth, Calif., where the women’s Swatch TTR tour champion will be crowned.
When asked if he is receiving any insider information on the terrain, Aleksander Aamodt Kilde — the boyfriend of Edwards’ own Mikaela Shiffrin — chuckled and replied, “You probably think so, but I actually I don’t.”
