ASPEN – The Aspen Leafs men’s hockey team swept its weekend series with the Las Vegas Hookers, winning 7-5 and 5-2 at the Lewis Ice Arena.
In the opener, the Aspen Leafs trailed by a goal early in the game. They scored four goals in the final period to seal the win.
In the second game Saturday, Aspen jumped to a 3-0 lead in the second period.
The Hookers scored two quick goals to pull within 3-2.
Aspen responded with goals by Ari Copra and Andrew Conarroe for the win.
The Hookers were forced to play a defensive style all weekend. Several members of the team and the head coach were hammered by the flu and were unable to make the trip to Aspen.
The Aspen Leafs will travel to Salt Lake City and Park City for the Mountain West Hockey League playoffs next month.
