Aspen lacrosse to host playoff doubleheader on Wednesday
The Aspen High School lacrosse teams are set to host a home playoff doubleheader on Wednesday. The Colorado High School Activities Association on Monday released the state playoff brackets for lacrosse, with both Aspen teams earning favorable draws.
The No. 13 seed Aspen girls (8-7 overall) will kick things off at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the AHS athletic field against No. 20 seed Castle View/Douglas County (10-5). The winner will play at No. 4 Chaparral, which has a first-round bye, in the second round. AHS played at Chaparral as recently as April 28, losing 7-4.
Colorado Academy is the top overall seed in the 20-team field.

The Skiers won their first postseason game last season, an 11-10 win over Pine Creek. They are again in the postseason after going undefeated in league play for a second straight season.
At 6 p.m. Wednesday, the No. 7 seed Aspen boys (11-4 overall) will host a familiar foe in No. 10 seed Steamboat Springs (8-7). The teams met in the season opener, an 8-7 win for the Skiers in Steamboat.
The winner of Wednesday’s game will play the winner of No. 2 Valor Christian and No. 15 Battle Mountain on Friday. The highest remaining seed will host the game.
Dawson School, which hosts No. 16 Summit in the first round, earned the top seed in Class 4A’s 16-team field.

Aspen girls golf ties for second at 3A championship; Persson, O’Sullivan in top 10
Playing in the final group of the Class 3A girls golf state championship on Wednesday, Lenna Persson finally discovered the nerves that had been absent two days earlier in her practice round at Aspen Golf Club.
