Aspen Jr. Gents open prep rugby campaign

The Junior Gents will open the high school rugby season Saturday.

The Junior Gents, affiliated with the Gentlemen of Aspen rugby club, will host the Westside Swarm Rugby Football Club from the Denver area in a 1 p.m. game Saturday at Willits Rugby Field in the Basalt/El Jebel area.

The public is invited to the prep rugby matchup featuring the Junior Gents, who have played in three consecutive state championship rugby matches with one title.

The next game for the Junior Gents will be a road game at Highlands Ranch against the Highlands Ranch Harlequins RFC on March 7.

One week later, the Aspen Junior Gents will host the Pikes Peak Falcons from Colorado Springs on March 14 at Willits.

Then, the Junior Gents will travel to Watkins to play Ridge View Academy on March 28.

The junior rugby club, with players from throughout the Roaring Fork Valley, also will have games April 4 and April 18 at Willits.

They will travel on April 11 for a game at Castle Rock.
