Aspen High boys tennis second in Denver tourney

The Aspen High School boys tennis team keeps on collecting trophies and plaques.

The Skiers finished second last weekend in the annual Smoky Hill Invitational Tournament in the Denver area.

The tournament field included Aspen, Smoky Hill, Rangeview, ThunderRidge, Eaglecrest, Colorado Springs Christian and Kent Denver.



The tournament title came down to the final match after two days of play. ThunderRidge and Aspen battled for the title with ThunderRidge edging the Skiers 94-92.

The flighted tournament featured three Aspen champions.




At No. 1 singles, Aspen’s Dillon Leasure won the overall title. Also at No. 2 singles, Henry Godfrey won the crown.

Aspen’s No. 1 doubles team of Dylan Behr and Gordon Carr won their division.

The Aspen No. 2 doubles team of Alex Reagan and Andy Vernier finished as tourney runner-up as did the Aspen No. 3 doubles team of William Reagan and David Mondry.

The Aspen High School boys tennis team, coached by Gary Quandt, will compete in the Western Slope Invitational in Grand Junction on Friday and Saturday.
