Aspen girls beat ‘Cats in lacrosse

FRUITA, Colo. – The Aspen High School girls lacrosse team bounced back into the win column with a 19-11 victory at Fruita Monument on Thursday afternoon.

Shannon Turbidy scored 10 goals as the Skiers improved to 7-2 in the Mountain League, 7-3 overall.

Paige Johnson and Claire Boronski scored three goals each for Aspen.



Teammates Nina Christensen, Sarah Chiles and Hannah Dodge also scored in Aspen’s road win.

Llindsey Burenheide led Fruita Monument with five goals. Alyssa Urban and Nicole Twardowski added two goals each for the Wildcats, 2-6 overall, 2-5 in conference.




Lauren Sullivan and Kiana Vogt also scored for Fruita Monument.

Kendall Anderson was credited with two assists for Aspen.

Isabella Courtenay-Morris picked up the victory in goal for the Skiers, who outshot Fruita Monument 27-17.

The Aspen girls lacrosse team will play at Summit in Frisco next Wednesday.

The Skiers will host Durango and Eagle Valley in the final regular-season games next week.
