Aspen boys fall to Meeker

The Aspen High School boys basketball team fell for the first time this season, losing 40-33 on Friday night in Meeker.

The Skiers (1-1) were playing in the second round of the Cowboy Shootout, hosted by Meeker. They had defeated Soroco, 74-37, on Thursday in the first round.

Aspen will face Rangely Saturday afternoon in the third-place game, in Meeker. Following the tournament, the Skiers play at Roaring Fork on Tuesday before hosting Vail Christian on Dec. 16, their final game before winter break.

Also Saturday, the Aspen High School hockey team (0-2) plays at Denver East (1-0).
