The Aspen High School girls soccer team closed the regular season like it closed most matches this season — with a shutout victory.

The Skiers beat visiting Vail Christian 6-0 in a lightning-delayed match Friday night at Aspen School District Stadium.

The win was the ninth shutout of the season for the Aspen girls, who improved to 12-3-0 overall. They finished 8-2-0 in the Western Slope League.

Coach John Gillies said the Aspen defense was stellar again against the Saints.

Simone Lamont scored two goals for Aspen.

Clara Maxwell and Melody Lemke also scored along with Arley Gordon and Ellie Oates.

The Skiers will await their assignment in the Class 3A girls soccer playoffs, set to be announced on Sunday.

The 24-team bracket will be established with the first-round matches scheduled for Tuesday, May 10.

The second round, or state quarterfinals, will be played Friday, May 13.

Semifinals will be May 18 with the state championship in 3A set for May 24.

Vail Christian moved to 5-7-0 overall with the loss at Aspen.

The Basalt girls soccer team finished the regular season 9-6-0 and 7-3-0 in conference. The Longhorns’ status for the playoffs is up in the air.

Coal Ridge and Vail Mountain School are locks for the girls soccer playoffs with Aspen next.
