AHS tennis returns to G.J. for tourney

The Aspen High School boys tennis team will head to Grand Junction and the annual Western Slope Tournament today and Saturday.

The Skiers last weekend played in the Lowery Bishop Tennis Tournament, also in Grand Junction, finishing with a 2-2 record, good for fourth out of seven teams.

Aspen beat Fruita Monument 7-0, then lost to Grand Junction 4-3. After a 5-2 loss to Fossil Ridge, the Skiers beat Grand Junction Central 7-0.



Freshman Alex Ilic went undefeated for the weekend, according to head coach Gary Quandt. Sophomore Dillon Leasure, seniors Henry Godfrey, David Mondry and Andy Vernier each went 3-1.

Keegan Mehall, Gabe Suarez went 2-2 and Dylan DeGraf went 2-0.




Aspen’s Noah Ahmundson went 2-1.

Cory Barel, Victoyr Dunn and Gage Carr went 1-2. Chris Gregory was 1-1 last weekend.
