AHS hockey beats Pine Creek on Friday
The Aspen High School hockey team ended a three-game, non-win slide Friday with a 6-0 victory over visiting Pine Creek at Lewis Ice Arena.
The game was close through two periods — AHS leading 2-0 — before a four-goal third period put the game away.
Joel Rothman and Jack Pevny had two goals each for the Skiers. Jacob Wedhorn recorded 13 saves in net.
Pine Creek fell to 2-7-1 with the loss.
Aspen, now 2-5-1 overall, will host Doherty this afternoon at Lewis Ice Arena. The Skiers beat the Spartans 3-0 on Dec. 14.

Led by Maley, Basalt’s six-member track and field team shines at state meet
Katelyn Maley could have led the charge from start to finish, but sometimes waiting to make your move is a better strategy. The Basalt High School junior did just that on Saturday when she won the Class 3A girls 800-meter race at the state meet at Jefferson County Stadium in Lakewood.
