The Aspen High School boys golf team tied for ninth in a loaded field on Wednesday at the Sun Devil Invitational, hosted by defending Class 3A state champion Kent Denver at Saddle Rock Golf Course.

Heritage’s Ben Carrington won the tournament with a 1-under-par 71. Aspen junior Dom Lanese led the Skiers by shooting 76 to tie for 10th place. Miles McConnell was next best for Aspen, shooting 79 to tie for 24th.

Chasing miles of smiles in Snowmass Village

It would be easy enough to quantify long-distance adventures in Snowmass Village by the usual stats and figures: 90-plus miles of singletrack and dirt roads, four core endurance races every summer, infinite route combinations no more than a few hundred yards from the nearest parking spot or bus stop. But there’s another metric worth clocking too: Smiles per hour.
