Student band competition returns
Fifteen student bands will duke it out this weekend in Jazz Aspen Snowmass’ Band Battle ’13.
The event will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. on May 11 at Sopris Park in Carbondale. The free event will once again be held in conjunction with the annual Carbondale Dandelion Days Festival with activities kicking off at 9 a.m.
Bands represent a wide range of genres from throughout the Roaring Fork Valley and beyond.
“The Band Battle competition is one of (Jazz Aspen Snowmass’) favorite education events of the year,” said President and CEO Jim Horowitz. “It’s exciting to see the level of talent and enthusiasm these young musicians bring to the stage.”
New this year, the winning band will receive free recording time at Great Divide Recording Studios in Aspen.
