Costumes will be donned, locals and visitors will come out to play and general frivolity will reign for that most bittersweet of days — Closing Day.
Buttermilk’s last day to run lifts was Easter Sunday, and on April 12, both Snowmass and Highlands will bid farewell to the ski season. Aspen Mountain is set to close April 19.
Snowmass might be losing Schneetag, the team pond-skimming contest, to Highlands this year, and a vertical challenge planned for Saturday has been canceled, but ski season never ends quietly. This year will be no exception.
Snowmass festivities will kick off on April 11 with a DJ, kids entertainment including clowns and face painting, and a dunk tank — run by Snowmass Rotary — in Base Village during après-ski hours. Base Camp Bar & Grill, Ricard, Slice and Bia Hoi restaurants all will offer food and drink specials, and Ricard will be smoking Po’ Boys on the patio.
A sidewalk sale with deals on skis, snowboards and clothing will take over the base and the Snowmass Village Mall all weekend.
A full day of parking in the Base Village garage will be discounted to $10 on April 11 and 12.
Snowmass requiring new documentation for employee housing lease renewals
The Snowmass Village Housing Department is cracking down on its rental compliance for workforce housing in this year’s lease renewal cycle.
