The run “Garrett Gulch” at Snowmass Ski Area was originally named Max’s Draw until Don Rayburn changed the name. Rayburn renamed the area “Garrett Gulch” not after Garrett Peak, but after “The Garret” — an infamous house in Aspen where many ski patrollers and early Snowmass snowcat tour guides lived in the early to mid 1960s.
