S’mass events: Thanksjibbing, Snowmass clinic tours, The Collective and mix6 opening

Every week the Snowmass Sun will run an 11-day calendar of big events in the village from Wednesday to the following Sunday.
NOV. 29
Thanksjibbing
From 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., watch some of the Aspen-Snowmass area’s most talented freeskiers and snowboarders show off their skills for cash prizes and season-long bragging rights during Thanksjibbing.
The free annual day competition will take place on Fanny Hill.
DEC. 5
Special preview of new Snowmass clinic
The Snowmass community is invited to the Limelight Snowmass lobby Dec. 5 for snacks, s’mores and guided tours of the Snowmass Medical Care clinic’s new home in Base Village.
From 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., clinic and office staff will escort locals over to Building 8 for a hardhat tour of the new facility, which is set to open in January.
Locals interested in attending the special preview event are asked to wear close-toed shoes and to RSVP at avhf@aspenhospital.org, or 970-544-1302.
DEC. 6
Light up the Night
Swing by the Snowmass Chapel, 5307 Owl Creek Road, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 6 for its annual tree lighting ceremony. Mr. and Mrs. Claus will hand out cookies and cocoa while 40 Christmas trees light up the night sky.
DEC. 7 and 8
Game lounge, mix6 and moxiBar opening events in The Collective
On Dec. 7 and Dec. 8, locals will and visitors will be able to get a taste of The Collective and it’s new mix6 restaurant and moxiBar.
The grand opening and “Dinner is On Us!” event starts at 4 p.m. Dec 7, featuring the entire mix6 menu, which allows people to choose as many as six food items and flavors to create their own meals, or mixes. There will be a cash bar at the moxiBar inside and a satellite bar outside with hot chocolate and Gluewein (spiced wine).
Also starting at 4 p.m., locals can enjoy live music in from Chris Banks, Mark Johnson, and other contemporary jazz performers and instructors with Jazz Aspen Snowmass; and free access to the new game lounge on the lower level of The Collective. Music will run until 7 p.m. and the game lounge will be open until 9 p.m.
On Dec. 8, mix6 will open its doors again for a “30 get $30” Sunday brunch special. The first 30 adults who attend the brunch at 10 a.m., which will feature shrimp, grits, steak, eggs, pancakes and more, will receive a $30 gift certificate. The brunch also will feature a supreme Bloody Mary bar. For more information, visit eatmix6.com.
From Dec. 7 on, The Collective will be open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Krabloonik, Snowmass exchange arguments leading up to eviction hearing
Written arguments between the town of Snowmass Village and the Krabloonik dog-sledding operation were filed last week in a ramp-up to a key hearing in the coming months.
