Schneetag winners announced; two more weekends at Aspen Mountain

Aubree Dallas/Snowmass Sun |
Closing day festivities at Snowmass ski area on April 20 were highlighted by the Schneetag event, as teams attempted to float across a giant pond on a craft they had built.
Every team had a theme and performed a skit before they descended. Each team was judged based on creativity, skit performance, craft construction and success in riding the course.
Here are the results from the seventh annual Schneetag:
First place — Hans and Gretel featuring Jason Hartmann, Matt Hooks, Susan Muenchen and Pete Pelinski.
Second place — Hot Shots featuring Gloria Bouillon, Alex Waterman, Andrew Nerz and Erin Dwyer.
Third Place — Don’t Hassle the Hoff featuring Jake Boyles, Bill Wells, Bobby Almazan and Brian Wells.
Aspen Mountain also ended daily operations Sunday but will reopen for the weekends of April 26-27 and May 3-4. Hours of operation will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Silver Queen Gondola, Ajax Express, FIS and Ruthie’s chairs will run and the Sundeck’s grill will be open.
