“Mall prepares to unveil new look,” read a headline in the Snowmass section of The Aspen Times in November 1988. “Thanksgiving weekend marks a major turning point for Snowmass Village as about two dozen new stores, a new chapel and transit plaza prepare for their debut. ‘If someone hadn’t been here for a few years, they won’t recognize the mall,’ said Carol O’Dowd, town manager…..The new stores and offices are expected to double the size of the Snowmass Village mall, according to George Krawzoff, town transportation director. Construction crews are putting the finishing touches on Snowmass Village’s Parcel C- the town’s first retail shopping complex built this decade- in preparation for a Thanksgiving opening.” The image at left is of the proposed expansion of the Snowmass Village Mall presented in 1987.
