History: Ski-in, ski-out, carefree

With the opening of the Snowmass ski area in December 1967, there was a big push for people to purchase condominiums with ski-in, ski-out access to have those “carefree” vacations. Again in the 1980s, the Crestwood condo complex was pushing for the same ease of vacation. Listed in a real estate ad stating it was “located in Snowmass Resort near the slopes, this two bedroom, two bath condominium would make the perfect vacation home. … Offers parking facilities and use of the pool and sauna.” It was listed for $132,000, but it also offered the option to rent out the condo space when it wasn’t being used by the owners as a way to help pay for annual expenses.
