History: Silvertree’s changing face

“Silver Tree expansion proposed” announced The Aspen Times on July 17, 1986. “Plans for the largest hotel/commercial expansion project in Snowmass Village history will be presented at a joint meeting of the town council and planning commission July 28. Bill Burwell, who with brother Rod last year purchased the Silver Tree Inn and El Dorado lodge, are proposing a $15 million expansion project, which will include development of ‘Building L,’ the plat of which has been purchased by the Burwells from the Snowmass Co.” Pictured is Bill Burwell holding a model of the Silvertree Hotel in Snowmass as it would look if it were remodeled.
