History: Eye-opener

“Is Craig Ward closing his eyes to the melting snow at the golf course ski track?” questioned The Aspen Times in 1986. “Not on your life. Ward was a participant last weekend in a blind ski clinic held in Aspen by World Champion [cross country] blind skier John Novotny. Here Ward wears a blindfold to experience the sensation of blind skiing. Ward will travel to Sweden this spring to ski as a guide in the world championships of handicapped skiers for partially blind skier Joe Raineri, who also attended this weekend’s clinic.”
