Gary Suiter hired as interim Snowmass town manager

Gary Suiter, former town manager of Snowmass Village, has been hired to serve in that role again on an interim basis while the town searches for a replacement for Russ Forrest. Forrest is leaving Snowmass Village to take a position with Gunnison County. Suiter will begin acting as town manager Aug. 1.

Suiter has more than 30 years of experience serving in various chief executive positions for local governments in Colorado and other Western states, according to a statement. He was town manager in Snowmass Village from 1990 to 2001.

Since 2002, Suiter has operated a consulting company specializing in local government management, strategic planning and implementation, organizational analysis and policy development. He has served as president of the board of the Colorado City and County Management Association.

“As previous town manager, Gary knows the community and town workings as well as anyone,” said Bill Boineau, mayor of Snowmass Village. The Town Council approved Suiter’s hiring. “He has served for many communities throughout the West since his tenure in Snowmass and has successfully helped them through times of transition. We are confident that he will do the same for us.”
