Five eyeing bid for Snowmass mayor, council seats

Staff report

Five residents had withdrawn candidate packets for Snowmass Village elected positions as of Aug. 12.

Bill Boineau, Bill Madsen and Bob Sirkus are petitioning to run for Town Council seats. Jason Haber, currently a councilman, will run for mayor. Arnold Mordkin is undecided whether he will run for mayor or for council.

Boineau is currently the town’s mayor but is term-limited from running for that position again. He is a computer tech and property manager.

Madsen is director of operations for NASTAR. Sirkus serves as the Planning Commission chairman. Mordkin is an attorney and former Town Councilman.

The mayoral seat and two council positions are up for grabs in the Nov. 4 election. Those are currently occupied by Boineau, Haber and Councilman Fred Kucker, who is not running for re-election.

Candidate applications can be picked up from the Town Clerk. Nomination petitions must be filed by 5 p.m. Aug. 25.
