Danny Abbott
Longtime Aspen local, the man, the myth and the legend, “Dirty Dan” Danny Abbott, passed away at the age of 73 on January 8, 2015 after a long fight with Parkinson’s Disease.
Born June 11, 1941, in Glendale, California to Doris and Gordon Abbott, Danny moved to Aspen in the early 1960s, spending nearly 4 decades as a beloved part of the community.
Danny is survived by his children, Gwen Abbott Asmussen, and Jeremy Abbott. He was immensely proud of them and would brag about their accomplishments to friends and strangers alike. In fact, the only thing Danny loved nearly as much as his children was the city of Aspen itself. A service and party to honor Danny’s memory is being planned; date and times to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, his children request that donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research at http://www.michaeljfox.org
