Council approves annexation on first reading
The Snowmass Village Town Council on July 1 approved on first reading an ordinance that would annex a parcel of land in the Popish Valley to the town.
The land parcel takes up about half the valley, said Town Attorney John Dresser. The other half will remain in Pitkin County and either be subdivided or put under a conservation easement.
The parcel is owned by Clear W Ranch LLC. It is the fathering piece for Wildcat Ranch, already part of Snowmass Village. and the new owners wish to be part of the town as well, Dresser said.
The second hearing of the ordinance is scheduled for Aug. 19.
Snowmass Village retailers combined to generate $2.2 million in revenue in July, which translated to $247,891 in sales tax collections for the town’s general fund, according to the latest tax report available.
