Council approves annexation on first reading

The Snowmass Village Town Council on July 1 approved on first reading an ordinance that would annex a parcel of land in the Popish Valley to the town.

The land parcel takes up about half the valley, said Town Attorney John Dresser. The other half will remain in Pitkin County and either be subdivided or put under a conservation easement.

The parcel is owned by Clear W Ranch LLC. It is the fathering piece for Wildcat Ranch, already part of Snowmass Village. and the new owners wish to be part of the town as well, Dresser said.

The second hearing of the ordinance is scheduled for Aug. 19.
