Base Village launches Saturday après activities

Staff report

The Snowmass Base Village Plaza is the new place to be for après ski on Saturdays. Every Saturday from now through mid-April, from 2-5 p.m., Base Village will host Après on the Bricks, a joint effort to create family-friendly entertainment in the plaza.

Red Bull will host a weekly DJ, and restaurants will offer après drink and food specials. There will be family entertainment and other events that are part of the Very Important Kid program, launched in December. Patrons can enjoy the open area on the Base Village bricks to dance, enjoy a cocktail, gather with friends or simply relax after a day on the mountain or in the backcountry.

Family events are part of the VIK Snowmass program, available seven days a week. The family events at Après on the Bricks include a variety of animated characters, face painting, the mammoth mascot, live entertainment, hair braiding, snow fairies and more. The restaurants have designated a common consumption area on the plaza, meaning that patrons can purchase drinks from bars and carry them in designated plastic cups anywhere within the boundaries. Ricard will have a smoker on the patio and offer a Red Bull cocktail menu. Bia Hoi will have food specials and $3 beers. Base Camp will have six food items for $6. Slice, Nest and Eight K also will participate.
