Aspen Center for Environmental Studies, Patagonia Snowmass partner in film festival

Staff report

Aspen Center for Environmental Studies and Patagonia Snowmass will host the Wild & Scenic Film Festival On Tour at the Wheeler Opera House at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

The festival is a collection of short films that inspire and motivate audiences to take action and become part of the solution to issues ranging from energy, food systems, biodiversity, recreation, climate change and the protection and restoration of wild lands and waters. The evening will feature a curated lineup of nine films including the award-winning short “Pangolin,” a glimpse into the most illegally trafficked mammal on the planet. Additional screenings include the tribute film “Douglas Tompkins, A Wild Legacy and The High Divide,” a new film that celebrates the American West and its visionary people.

All event proceeds benefit Aspen Center for Environmental Studies’ Tomorrow’s Voices program in honor of Willard Clapper, who founded the program with fellow educator A.O. Forbes in 2000. Tomorrow’s Voices is a college-level class providing civics and environmental leadership education for Roaring Fork Valley high school students.

Ticket prices are $12 in advance at the Wheeler box office or aspenshowtix.com. Cost is $15 the day of the event.
