Anderson Ranch to have auction, picnic on Aug. 9

Staff report

Anderson Ranch Arts Center celebrates its 34th annual Art Auction and Community Picnic, its largest fundraiser of the year and a long-standing highlight of the summer in the valley, on Aug. 9.

Artists, collectors and art enthusiasts come to the Snowmass Village arts campus to bid on more than 200 works of art, offered in both live and silent auctions. There will be children’s art activities as well as a barbecue for $15 and a live performance by Guy Welles.

“The 34th annual Art Auction has a strong list of artists including Marina Abramovic, Barry X Ball, Takashi Nakazato, Christo, Sanford Biggers, Nick van Woert and more,” said Nancy Wilhelms, executive director of Anderson Ranch. “The atmosphere is exciting, and the auction offers a great opportunity for everyone from new collectors to top collectors to purchase outstanding works that fit their budgets.”

This year, Anderson Ranch will use Paddle8 as the online bidding platform for the live and silent auctions. The live auction will close online at 8 p.m. Aug. 8, and the silent auction will remain open during the event until 2:30 p.m. Aug. 9. Learn about how Paddle8 works and register at http://paddle8.com/how_it_works.

The live auction will begin at noon Aug. 9. Twenty-six pieces will be offered during the live auction. A catalog of works can be downloaded at http://www.andersonranch.org.
