Jonathan Bowers continues working with The Aspen Times as its news editor, having joined the staff in August 2022. He previously worked as its copy editor, as well as copy editor/page designer for Summit Daily News, The Durango Herald, and Oregon Daily Emerald.

He has both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in journalism from the University of Oregon, spending a graduate-school year studying freedom of expression and criminology at the University of Oslo, Norway. His master’s thesis is a comparative analysis of crime-coverage ethics for private individuals at news outlets in the US and Scandinavia.
