Smith: Take note from Winter Park

The Lumberyard project is a flight of fancy on the part of the city. What a waste of time and money. They should abandon and manage the actual employee housing inventory that is already in place.
I agree with Eric Simon: They need to stop wasting time on this project. Or they should send their “consultants and design team” to Winter Park.
Winter Park was able to finance and build housing for 332 units for $40 million, or $120,500 per unit — and they were able to do this in 2 years.
If they can do this, Aspen should be able to do so — if, and I mean if, they really think the additional housing is warranted.
