Siegel: Aspen is Aspen during mud seasons

The voters are frustrated about many things: the town overrun, traffic, the cost of everything, fewer places to eat, the noticeable loss of community and small town values, and a lot more. Seemingly, Aspen is Aspen only during the mud seasons.

To the rescue this election comes a recycled group touting their decades in public office, promising — if elected again — leadership and solutions. To which I respond: You are the very people who created this mess. What you propose is a regurgitation of failed concepts. You are hopelessly out of touch, behind the times, and will simply move the deck chairs around with your narrow-minded thinking.

There is a much better choice, new people having knowledge of the issues, experience, and leadership qualities, albeit not in City Council chambers. If Aspen is to move forward with coherency and balance, it can no longer rely on the old ways. It is not a loss to toss out what has not worked.

That is why I am all in for Katy Frisch for mayor and Emily Kolbe for City Council. Together, they would form the core of a new City Council dedicated to holistic balanced solutions. They are listeners and thinkers, not hidebound by preconceived notions. They are consensus builders yet realize that not everyone will be pleased.

If the voters of Aspen are ready to turn in a new direction, Katy Frisch and Emily Kolbe should be your first two votes.
