Roses and Thorns
Thorns go to the couple who have abandoned their Aspen affordable-housing unit, even after they agreed to sell it and move out when they conceded they weren’t full-time residents. The Nelson couple, now located in parts unknown, have created a major hassle and inconvenience for the family that won the lottery for the home but cannot move in. This type behavior is blatantly selfish and runs counter to the spirit of the affordable-housing program.
Roses to Aspen High School’s boys lacrosse team, which made it all the way to the semifinals of the Class 4A state championships before falling, 12-7, to No. 1 Wheat Ridge on Wednesday. It was quite a run for the Aspen team, which has established itself as a formidable player on the state level.
A rose to whomever strapped the beautiful red roses onto the bench in front of The Aspen Times this past weekend. We don’t know who did it or why, but dozens of people walked by and admired them. In fact, they’re still looking good on our front desk.
