Mulcahys: Helping Cubans amid disaster

Cubans can’t seem to get a break. A million Cubans have recently left the country. Cubans have experienced two national blackouts, two hurricanes, and a recent earthquake.
How can you help? Americans are allowed to visit Cuba with an easily acquired e-Visa for “support for the Cuban people.” Due to the US trade embargo, Cuba lacks basic medicine. Our Texas church is taking over-the-counter medicines as well as old laptops for Christmas. You can help by dropping them off at the Aspen Jewish Community Center, AJC at the Aspen Chapel, Christ Episcopal, Aspen Community Church, or St. Mary’s in Aspen or Carbondale before Dec. 15.
