Time to engage Holy Cross Energy

Recent letters and news stories in connection with the current director election and incoming CEO at Holy Cross Energy rightfully indicate that this is an exciting time for our cooperative.

As the member-elected director for the Southern District, which includes Basalt, Snowmass Village and Aspen, my responsibility is to represent the best interests of all Holy Cross members to maintain the outstanding operating and financial performance of our electric service while setting the direction for the co-op in the face of an uncertain future. I want to keep your views and needs in mind throughout this process.

Electric utilities of all types play a huge role in the economic and environmental conditions of the communities they serve. Rural electric cooperatives like Holy Cross are no exception. As our membership becomes increasingly diverse, so do their opinions, concerns and needs.

At the same time, exploding developments in technology both within the utility world and beyond are dramatically expanding the range of choices surrounding how electric power is delivered and the services which members or customers may need or desire.

In short, there’s never been a more important time to engage with Holy Cross Energy — which, as a member, you own — than now. I encourage you to participate with your vote by mail or at our annual meeting at 4 p.m. Thursday at Eagle Ranch in Wolcott.

Your ideas and comments are always welcome! While we often see a spike in interest around elections, you and all member-owners are encouraged to contact the board of directors at any time with questions or input via our website at http://www.holycross.com/contact-board.
