Science in Willits!
June 28, 2018
Aspen Science Center kicked off our summer season Wednesday with our first Physics for Kids BBQ, held at the Element Hotel in Willits. More than 60 people turned out for an evening of fun science activities, including liquid nitrogen, electricity and magnetism, math challenges, Zomes, stomp rockets, CO2 bubbles, the ever-popular potato canon and much more! We are eternally grateful to the Element Hotel for hosting us, Scott Pickard and Sure Thing Burger for providing the food, and Basalt Education Foundation and Allison Johnson at Basalt Middle School for helping to market the event. The barbecues will start their weekly run at the Aspen Center for Physics on July 11.
ASC is endeavoring to expand more of our programming to the mid-valley and beyond, in order to reach more families. We know there is less STEM programming in the mid-valley, and we are committed to providing more. We will have further programing in the mid-valley this summer, including another barbecue at the Waldorf School in Carbondale, New Moon Stargazers in El Jebel and Carbondale, and Rocket Camp! at Basalt Middle School in July. Please visit AspenScienceCenter.org for our full programming schedule and details.
