Remembering Su Lum
Su Lum touched many lives, certainly mine.
When I was with The Aspen Times in the 1970s and Su was in charge of advertising, she, her assistant Cathy, Bil (editor) and I had regular bridge games. More recently — thanks to Jasmine Tygre’s coming to New York to help her aunt — Su and Jasmine and I have had regular Thursday evening bridge games online.
When I visited two years ago, I made a little slideshow titled “Visit Su Lum June 2015” and posted it on my YouTube channel (Adele Dusenbury). Unfortunately it’s a little long — nine minutes. But it does show Su with her dachshunds (some real), in her garden, shopping at the Saturday farmers market, attending a going-away party for Lauren Cassatt and playing bridge in her kitchen with me, Jasmine, daughter Hillery and friend Hilary.
It also shows Hilary taking her dachshund Huckleberry and Su’s two, Freddy and Nicky, on a walk around the Aspen Music Festival grounds.
I am sending this so anyone who wants to see these photos of Su can do so and also to repeat what I’m sure others are saying: Su was a faithful friend to Aspen, to so many people, to dogs, to the planet Earth, to her daughters Hillery and Skye and to her grand-daughter Riley.
Riley, if you see this, know she thought the world of you. The YouTube link is https://youtu.be/BmkUEmPvgw8.
