Pitkin County Healthy Rivers board seeks new members

Are you passionate about rivers and western water issues? Do you have legal, financial or scientific expertise that could be put to use for the benefit of our watershed? If so, we need you!

The Pitkin County Healthy Rivers board is seeking county residents to serve on this advisory board with the goal of protecting, preserving and enhancing the rivers of the Roaring Fork watershed.

We are funded by a 0.1 percent sales tax that is used to maintain and improve water quality and quantity, and for purchasing and protecting water rights. Some of our current projects include improvements at the Pitkin County whitewater park in Basalt, which will be leveraged with a recently approved Great Outdoors Colorado grant. The whitewater park helps to guarantee recreational flows in the river channel. Another exciting project we sponsor is the Youth Water Summit for Roaring Fork valley middle and high school students. To apply, please contact the county manager’s office at 970-920-5200.
