More flowers, less GOP bashing
It is time for my annual “bitching” about the entry to Aspen.
I fail to understand why the entrance to Aspen is so cruddy looking! Yesterday, we were reminded how attractive it might be when we entered Gypsum. Their roundabout has a lovely entrance sign plus beautiful flowers welcoming visitors. Ours, in contrast, is loaded with weeds and untended trees. Plus, the median from the airport to the S-curve is a tangle of weeds. Actually, the S-curve has the only pretty flowers as one approaches Main Street.
I would think it might be the expense but, when the “city officials” can spend a half million dollars on the umpteenth “study” on the entry to town, I’m guessing the money is there if they, as a matter of beauty and pride, wanted to improve the appearance of our entry to our wonderful town. Does anyone else care?
Also, as members of the “minority party” in Aspen, we resent the fact that virtually all of the “political cartoons” lambast everything Republicans and our president propose or have to say. We particularly like Fox News’ statement “Fair and Balanced.” Why not Aspen Times?
We love many things about Aspen — The Aspen Institute, the Music Festival and School, the flowers that adorns the local businesses and its residents, full and part time.
